Mobile EV Charging Takes Off in Malaysia with Kelle Energy’s BESS-Powered Solution

Singapore-based clean energy technology company Kelle Energy has officially launched Malaysia’s first mobile electric vehicle (EV) chargers integrated with battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Kuala Lumpur.

Announced by CEO Jason Koh, the solution is designed to complement existing EV charging infrastructure by providing flexible, mobile charging capacity in areas where fixed installations are limited or not feasible. The initiative comes as Malaysia continues to expand EV adoption but faces challenges in meeting its target of 10,000 public chargers by 2025 under the Low-Carbon Mobility Blueprint 2021-2030.

Currently, Malaysia has approximately 5,360 public EV chargers nationwide, highlighting a gap between infrastructure growth and rising demand. Kelle Energy’s mobile chargers aim to address this by allowing charging capacity to be deployed dynamically based on location and peak usage periods, such as during festive travel seasons when highway demand surges.

Each mobile unit is equipped with a 184kW BESS and can deliver charging power of up to 60kW. The system can also integrate with solar panels, store energy, and deploy it during peak demand. This flexibility helps overcome issues such as high upfront infrastructure costs, grid capacity limitations, and space constraints in urban areas.

At the launch event held at Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, Kelle Energy also announced strategic partnerships, including a collaboration with Anhui Yijianeng Digital Technology Co Ltd and EV Connection Sdn Bhd, to support nationwide deployment.

The company emphasized that its mobile charging solution is not meant to replace fixed chargers, but rather to enhance the overall ecosystem by addressing gaps in availability and utilisation.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Kelle Energy launched Malaysia’s first mobile EV chargers integrated with BESS in Kuala Lumpur.
  • The mobile chargers enable flexible deployment based on demand, helping reduce localized shortages.
  • Each unit features a 184kW BESS, 60kW charging capacity, and supports solar energy integration.
  • The company partnered with Anhui Yijianeng Digital Technology Co Ltd and EV Connection Sdn Bhd to expand nationwide deployment.
